Attendees have the opportunity to meet with Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and other key Senators working on issues of importance to women business owners.

 

1:45-4:30pm         The Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship will hold a hearing on in
                             SH-216, entitled “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs:  Understanding Successes, Addressing
                             Persistent Challenges, and Identifying New Opportunities.”  
                            
(Please Note: the hearing will NOT be held in our normal hearing room.)

Given that women owned businesses comprise nearly 30% of all US businesses and are growing at twice the rate of other businesses, the Committee will examine the successes and challenges facing women owned firms.  The purpose of the hearing is to review government programs that assist women owned firms and their effectiveness. Topics will include the women's federal procurement program, training and counseling, and lending programs for women entrepreneurs.

Chair Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Ranking Member James Risch (R-ID) will host.
