CARE's 2010 National Conference and Celebration
May 11-12 in Washington D.C.
Take part, get active and demand a world without poverty. At the 2010 CARE National Conference and Celebration you will gain a deeper understanding of the major issues affecting the developing world today, and the need to tackle those issues head on. You will join 800 other individuals who, like yourself, have decided to be a part of the fight against global poverty that is bringing hope to millions of people around the world.
During the first day of the conference, you will learn from international development experts, participate in engaging sessions, prepare for your visit to Capitol Hill and hear our engaging keynote speakers. You also will have the opportunity to visit our first-ever "Marketplace and Action Center,” where you will learn about CARE's three signature programs, have a chance to purchase items made by women artisans all over the world and become actively involved with CARE through our online advocacy efforts. On the second day of the conference, you will meet with your members of Congress to advocate for U.S. policies that fight global poverty and can help lift women lift themselves, their families and their communities out of poverty – for good.
When you join us at this year's advocacy conference, CARE's largest one yet, you'll play a vital role in the movement dedicated to improving the lives of the world's poorest individuals. The conference will leave you informed, empowered and even more committed to advocating on behalf of the 1.4 billion men, women and children struggling to survive on just over a dollar a day.
As a member of WIPP, your voice is key to CARE's efforts to effect real and lasting change in the lives of women around the world. We would like to invite you to join us at the CARE National Conference & Celebration on May 11 and 12 in Washington, D.C. for two days of political action, learning and inspiration. You will: hear from top activists, lawmakers and speakers who are committed to women's and girls' empowerment around the world engage in interactive workshops focusing on women’s microfinance programs and global women’s empowerment connect with women from around the country in the "Doing Good in Tough Times" More Magazine Special Session visit our Marketplace and Action Center to learn about CARE's Signature Programs and see items made by female artisans all over the world meet Goretti Nyabenda of Burundi, whose inspiring story is featured in the best-selling book "Half the Sky". Goretti is a successful entrepreneur and community leader who took part in a village savings and loan association with the help of CARE.
You will also receive hands-on training for promoting the issues you care about on Capitol Hill, and then meet in person with your own U.S. Senators and Representatives to educate them about why women's empowerment is important to you.
