The Federal Government has separate rules for acquiring commercial supplies and commercial services from contractors.  Commercial item contracting under FAR Part 12 includes streamlined acquisition procedures and fewer FAR clauses in your contract.  Your supplies or services do not need to be “off-the-shelf” to qualify as commercial items but they do need to meet the definition found in FAR Part 12.  This webinar will examine what constitutes a commercial item under FAR Part 12, how the contracting officer determines if the agency should purchase a commercial item and what are the advantages of selling commercial items to the Federal Government.
