E3 Training 150 – Funding Through the EPA’s Small Business Innovation
Research Program
Thursday,
March 8 at 1:00pm ET / 10am PT Presented By: Marti Otto, Senior Program Specialist, EPA
Starting in March, the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) will open up solicitation for Phase I of its Small
Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. Join us as an expert from the EPA explains everything you need to know to make your submission and take advantage of this program.
- The SBIR supports small businesses to develop and commercialize new
environmental technologies.
- The purpose
of this program was to strengthen the role of small businesses in federally
funded R&D and help spur technical
innovation.
Phase I awards of $80,000 for 6 months
are used for "proof of concept” of the proposed technology. Successful Phase I
businesses are then eligible to compete for Phase II awards. Through this
phased approach to SBIR funding, EPA can determine whether the research idea is technically feasible, whether the firm
can do high-quality research, and whether sufficient progress has been made to
justify a larger Phase II effort and increased funding.
