EPA and Army Corps

- ROUNDTABLE RESCHEDULED-

OnJuly 21, 2014, the Office of Advocacy will host a roundtable on the proposed rule defining the scope of waters protected under the Clean Water Act. This proposal would set forth several categories of waters to be included in the definition as well as establish waters that are subject to the Act.

The roundtable will be held at the Washington Marriott at metro Center, 775 12thStreet NW, Washington, DC, 20005 at 10:00 am.

-UPDATED TIME-

On July 8, 2014, the Office of Advocacy will host a roundtable on the proposed rule implementing Executive Order 13658, which increases the hourly minimum wage for federal contractors, subcontractors and their workers.

The roundtable will be held at the U.S. Small Business Administration, Eisenhower (Concourse level) Conference Room B, 409 Third Street, SW, Washington, DC 20416 at2:00 pm.

On July 11 and July 18, 2014 the Office of Advocacy will host roundtable discussions on the Presidential Memorandum updating and modernizing overtime regulations.

Dr. David Weil, Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division of DOL, and Dr. Winslow Sargeant, Chief Counsel for Advocacy, will be present to listen to small business views on the potential impact of this memorandum.

The roundtable will be held at the U.S. Small Business Administration, Eisenhower (Concourse level) Conference Room B, 409 Third Street, SW, Washington, DC 20416 at 10:00am.

Defining the Scope of Waters Protected under the Clean Water Act (CWA)

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) have extended the comment period for the proposed rule defining the scope of waters protected under the Clean Water Act. This proposal would set forth several categories of waters to be included in the definition as well as establish waters that are subject to the Act.

Definition of Destruction or Adverse Modification of Critical Habitat

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service propose to amend the definition of “destruction or adverse modification of critical habitat” under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.

Under the proposed definition any direct or indirect alteration that harms the conservation value of a habitat for a listed species would fall under the Endangered Species Act.

Industries impacted: agriculture, housing, oil and gas, transportation, and alternative energy small businesses
