Can you tell us more about your role at Facebook?
I am the Global Head of Diversity for Facebook. That means that I develop strategies to find, grow and keep the best and brightest talent from all backgrounds while leveraging the diversity of perspectives already present at Facebook to build the best products possible for the 1.23 billion people who use Facebook all over the world.

What was your career path and how did you end up at Facebook?
I have had a very colorful career path.I grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and did undergrad at Yale University and then studied law at Oxford University where I attended as a Rhodes Scholar.Following Oxford I ran a Human Rights organization, then practiced law for many years while simultaneously holding down a career as a broadcast journalist, actress, and TV show host.About 8 years ago, I was asked to develop and run the diversity initiatives at a global law firm based in New York. The experience I gained there led me on a direct path to my current job at Facebook.

What new initiatives are happening at Facebook?
The most exciting new initiatives at Facebook revolve around the long term pipeline activities. We have a deep interest in doing our part to improve the numbers of women and ethnic minorities who go in to computer science and stay there. In a world where there are more jobs for folks with technical talent than there are people with those skills, it is clear that in order to take advantage of those opportunities, we need more people to be exposed to the world of technology and to have access to programs and opportunities that help cultivate those required skills. We are partnering with organizations likeYes We Code,Girls Who Codeand many others to increase the pipeline of talent and are thrilled to be doing so.

Why did Facebook get involved with FOCUS?
We're proud to partner with digitalundivided as we share a common goal of diversifying the tech industry.DID is a unique social enterprise that develops programs aimed at increasing the active participation of urban communities, especially women, in the digital space.
