Communications and Policy Update
I hope you had a good August. Recess is over in Washington and Congress is about to get back to work with a lot on their plates...
There was a steady stream of great advocacy and content throughout last month which we appreciate as always. I am positive that our collective efforts are getting noticed.
Starting next week, the clear priority will be pushing for closure on the Internet Tax Freedom Act. We anticipate several coalition letters to be submitted on the issue and I would love to get feedback on any activities that you will be engaging with on the issue. With the amount of attention and pressure building on ITFA, I anticipate fairly quick acknowledgement and activity on the issue in the Senate once they get going.
Your help pressing ITFA is crucial. I thank you for your efforts ahead of time.
Just last week we released our new video: This is MY Wireless: Tina Tamale. It has a great message that shows the value of wireless in everyday life. This is a great tool in the ITFA debates – showing how vital connectivity and technology is to entrepreneurs like Tina. I encourage you to point to the video, share it and use it however you see fit to help carry the message.
Be on the lookout: In a few weeks the 2014 Wireless Tax Rankings report will be coming out. This is always a great report to point to regarding the out of control state/local taxes and fees on wireless bills across the country. This will present an opportunity for some additional content and promotion of the Wireless Tax Fairness Act and the regressive tax burden issue generally. This is also a great report to highlight in the high-tax states – potentially in partnership with state/local organizations who would find value in the information and writing about it.
