Statement on the President's Plan
to Protect Net Neutrality
November 13, 2014
Impacting Public Policy (WIPP)’s response to the proposal that the internet be
regulated as a public utility is simple—if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. WIPP believes the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) has done an admirable job of balancing regulation with
encouraging innovation. Critical to 8
million women business owners nationwide is access to much- needed broadband
and internet access without layers of new regulations resulting in additional
costs to entrepreneurs.
As a group
representing women business owners, WIPP recognizes the importance of
regulatory certainty– for large companies investing large amounts of capital
into broadband infrastructure and for the small businesses and entrepreneurs
who rely on broadband-based products and services to run their business. In
addition, small businesses continue to make substantial contributions to the
innovations in the telecommunication and technology sectors.
