SBA Launches New Lending Platform

The Small Business Administration (SBA) recently launched a new initiative designed to match entrepreneurs seeking capital directly with its network of lending partners. The new system, “Leveraging Information and Networks to access Capital” or LINC, is housed on the SBA’s website and is free to anyone looking for capital in the United States. Prospective borrowers answer 20 questions before the system automatically connects them with SBA lenders in their geographic area. If a lender determines that an applicant is not ready for a loan, the system connects them with local resource partners, such as a Small Business Development Center, for additional counseling. LINC is currently set up to match borrowers with SBA microlenders, Community Advantage lenders, and 504 commercial real estate lenders. The SBA plans to expand LINC to 7(a) lenders later this year.
