Bipartisan Export Bill Introduced in the House

In an attempt to streamline small business access to export resources and government programs that assist in exporting, House Small Business Committee Chair Steve Chabot (R-OH) introduced a bill, H.R. 2586, making a number of needed revisions.  Changes include defining federal agency roles in exports, creating a central list of trade-related events, providing state agencies with a voice in national export goals, and reducing an overlap of export resources.

Under the bill,  agency offices involved in trade promotion would be consolidated or co-located while export services and events would be more accessible through the creation of a new electronic database. With the potential to benefit women entrepreneurs, the bill provides more effective and efficient access to export resources and opportunities. A summary and text of the bill can be found here.
