WOMEN IMPACTING PUBLIC POLICY APPLAUDS CONGRESSIONAL DIRECTIVE TO STOP SBA'S PROPOSED WOMEN'S PROCUREMENT PROGRAM
March 11, 2009 – Washington, D.C. Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), a national bi-partisan public policy organization representing over half a million women and minority business owners applauds legislation which includes a restriction on further funding promulgation of the proposed women’s procurement rule. The funding prohibition was contained in the Omnibus Appropriations FY09, H.R. 1105 which President Obama signed into law today.
“From the beginning WIPP members have worked tirelessly to stop this ill-conceived rule and advocated for its withdrawn. We appreciate the efforts of all members of Congress who strongly supported that effort, particularly the leadership of the House and Senate Appropriations and Small Business Committees. We look forward to working with the new SBA leadership and Congress on a meaningful women’s procurement program which reflects Congress’ original intent. In these times of economic crisis an effective contracting program for women business owners is more important than ever to small business owners,” said WIPP President Barbara Kasoff.
