Government Makes Gains, But Still Fails to Reach Women’s Contracting Goal in FY14

A much anticipated announcement in the world of federal procurement is the SBA’s annual scorecard.  SBA rates federal agencies on how they met their overall small business goal, and their Woman-owned, HUBZone, Service Disabled Veterans and 8(a) contracting goals.  The good news is that the government met its small business goal in FY14.  The bad news is that women received only 4.68% of government contracts--short of the 5% government contracting goal.  WIPP is hopeful that with the addition of sole source authority to the WOSB procurement program, the government will meet its goal in upcoming years.  The SBA is closing its comment period on adoption of the sole source contracting proposed rule tomorrow.
