Two letters were sent to the Hill today from the Government Withholding Relief Coalition, of which WIPP is a member, supporting H.R. 275, introduced by Congressmen Meek and Herger, and S. 292, introduced by Senator Specter, which repeal the 3% withholding requirement. The 3% withholding law requires federal, state, and many local governments to withhold 3% from nearly all of their contract payments for goods and services. This requirement is scheduled to go into effect in 2012.  The Government Withholding Relief Coalition will be speaking about problems with implementation of this law, which WIPP has consistently opposed, on April 16 at an IRS public hearing.

WIPP supports full repeal of the 3% withholding law and urges Congress to pass these two bills.
