United States Senate Recognizes Small Business Saturday

On November 3rd, the Senate unanimously agreed to a Resolution designating November 28, 2015, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, as Small Business Saturday. Introduced by Small Business Committee Chair David Vitter (R-LA) and Ranking Member Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the honorary bill received bipartisan support with over 30 cosponsors.

Small Business Saturday encourages consumers to shop locally and increases awareness of the value of locally owned small businesses. Facts about the value of Small Business Saturday and shopping small:

  • 386 small business advocates support the nationwide initiative
  • Last year (2014), an estimated $14.3 billion was spent on Small Business Saturday alone at small independent businesses across the country

WIPP is proud to lead the Small Business Saturday Coalition, a national grassroots campaign to spread the Shop Small message. WIPP annually engages the business community and public officials to support small businesses.
