Senate Confirms SBA Chief Advocate

The Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Advocacy has a new Chief Counsel. Darryl DePriest was unanimously supported by the Senate Small Business Committee and confirmed by the full Senate on December 10. On his appointment, DePriest stated, “I am honored and humbled to serve on behalf of America’s small businesses. I want to thank President Obama, the U.S. Senate, and the numerous small business owners and organizations who supported my nomination.”

The Office of Advocacy plays a critical role, conducting research on the small business sector, advocating for small businesses within the federal government’s agencies and rulemaking processes, and fostering public awareness of small business contributions and concerns. The Office weighs in on effects of federal agencies’ proposed rules on small business as required by law.

WIPP supported Mr. DePriest’s nomination and believes that his years of regulatory and legal experience qualify him to work on behalf of the small business community.
