On Friday, July 10, 2009 Vice President Biden and Secretary of Health and Human Services Sibelius conducted a roundtable at the White House which focused on the challenges of small businesses who offer health insurance and those who cannot afford to offer health insurance to their employees.

The Vice President and the Secretary reiterated their understanding of the role of small businesses with respect to comprehensive health reform and the need to provide a fix.  Ann Sullivan, WIPP’s advocate in Washington had this to say about the meeting. “The roundtable participants were small businesses who expressed their frustration with affordability and accessibility when it comes to health insurance.  This is exactly what we hear from our members and highlights the need for reform.   Small businesses need to continue their call for comprehensive reform –this issue is too important to drop because of political differences.  The cost of doing nothing is far too great.”
