Walmart, WIPP Corporate Partner, To Provide Cost Effective Prescription Options
Wednesday, August 26, 2009
Walmart announced on August 19, 2009 that it will provide cost effective options for prescription medications to local communities. They realize Americans deserve access to quality, affordable health care and medications, yet some families and individuals aren’t filling prescriptions because of high costs or lack of health insurance. To help Americans get the medications they need and save money on those treatments, Walmart has made a commitment to drive unnecessary prescription costs out of the health care system. As part of this commitment, Walmart is providing a 90-day prescription supply at commonly prescribed dosages for $10 with convenient, free mail delivery in an additional 22 states and the District of Columbia.
This program builds on the successful $4 retail prescription program, which has saved customers more than $2 billion dollars to date.
Walmart's new mail delivery program helps seniors, working families, and the uninsured and underinsured save significantly on many of the medications they need, while enjoying the added convenience of free mail delivery. The program covers approximately 300 prescriptions, with the convenience of free shipping. Mail service also provides access to more than 3,000 other affordable brand and generic prescriptions, by calling one simple phone number: 1-800-2REFILL.
This announcement also reflects Walmart’s commitment to providing affordable health care to consumers, regardless of whether or not they live close to a Walmart or Sam’s Club pharmacy. Walmart is excited to offer this new program and will continue to look for opportunities to bring greater value to our customers and consumers.
