WIPP's Strong Voice
Thursday, October 22, 2009
Yesterday, October 21st, Ann Sullivan, WIPP Government Relations had the amazing opportunity to talk directly with the President on healthcare. She was one of 6 people to speak for 20 minutes, and discussed concerns about healthcare reform and the need for reform from the perspective of small business owners.
The President was very receptive and understood exactly why small businesses need insurance system reform, and that concerns centered on the bottom line of businesses being affected. SBA Administrator Karen Mills was in attendance at the meeting as well.
WIPP was able to convey data gathered from the Economic Survey presented at WIPP's October 1st National Legislative Meeting, particularly that if women business owners had their own country - they would have the 5th highest GDP in the world (ahead of France, Italy, and the UK).
This meeting is an excellent example of how WIPP is a strong voice for our members on Capitol Hill. If you would like to learn how to become more involved and active in WIPP, please read "Every WIPP Member Has a Voice
" document posted on the WIPP website homepage.
