DONNA DAVIS NAMED OUTSTANDING GLOBAL BUSINESSWOMAN AND ADVOCATE
Phoenix, AZ (Nov. 4, 2010) – Donna Davis, CEO and chief advocate for the Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA), was named to The International Alliance of Women (TIAW) World of Difference 100 list for 2010, which honors women globally who have made an impact on the economic empowerment of women through a wide range of endeavors.
Davis was honored for her energy, charisma, tireless leadership and her history of owning and advocating for small business. A long-time ardent supporter of economically empowering and impacting women, she was the 2004 recipient of the prestigious ATHENA Award for greater Phoenix and the U.S. Small Business Administration's Women in Business Advocate award. She is a founding National Partner of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and past President of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO)-Phoenix Chapter. This year, Davis established the ATHENA Awards program in Greater Tucson and organized the first awards luncheon.
Each year TIAW honors only 100 award recipients throughout the world who have made a difference to the economic empowerment of women by naming them to the TIAW World of Difference 100 list. Winners were announced last week in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
With ASBA, Davis is dedicated to helping small businesses prosper in the state of Arizona by providing them with abundant opportunities and resources. Davis currently serves on the board of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the National Small Business Association. She also is a member of Leadership America and Charter 100.
Davis was nominated by Martha Mertz of Sedona, AZ, founder of ATHENA International. "Donna is a role model and revolutionary for business women and small businesses,” said Mertz. "Her influence on Arizona small businesses has been astounding and I can't think of any one better suited for this honor.”
