Walmart's Fighting Hunger Together campaign this holiday season.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported on Monday that 1 in 6 Americans do not know where their next meal will come from. Helping communities save money and live better, especially in these tough economic times, lies at the core of our business.
So we're excited to announce our campaign to fight hunger in the U.S. this holiday season -- an effort that includes more than $18 million in monetary and in-kind donations. Specifically, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation will:
- Host our first nationwide food drive at all Walmart stores Nov. 15 - 22 -- this will be one of the largest food drives in U.S. history;
- Call on our 2.2 million Facebook fans
to vote for communities that will receive $1.5 million in anti-hunger grants;
- Donate 65 refrigerator food trucks to Feeding America network food banks; and
- Help The Salvation Army provide meals with a $1 million donation.

This campaign is just part of our $2 billion commitment to end hunger in America. Millions of friends and neighbors in our communities are going hungry every day -- at Walmart we are committed to doing everything we can to end this crisis.
I encourage you to join us in this effort by helping us spread the word.
