Text4baby: Educating New Moms via Text Messaging How You Can Help!

AT&T Supports Text4baby Through Free Text Messaging

Text4baby , a mobile service that provides free text messages with timely health information to women from early pregnancy through their babies’ first year, recently announced that more than 100,000 participants have now registered to receive the services’ weekly texts. A program of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB), text4baby has sent millions of text messages to pregnant and new mothers, providing them with information to give their babies the best possible
start in life.

AT&T* joins CTIA — the Wireless Association — and other wireless carriers and device manufacturers in the initiative.

You can help! Share information about text4baby with your organization’s members by becoming an Outreach Partner . Ways to get involved include:

  • Adding text4baby information to your website
  • Incorporating text4baby information in your mailings, listserv or newsletters
  • Displaying text4baby posters in your facilities
  • Promoting text4baby through public health or wellness campaigns
  • Encouraging use of the text4baby service among your members

To opt-in to text4baby, expectant family members can text BABY (for English-language tips) or BEBE (for Spanish-language tips) to 511411. The messages focus on a variety of topics critical to maternal and child health, including birth defect prevention, immunization, nutrition, seasonal flu, mental health, oral health and safe sleep. Text4baby text messages also connect women to prenatal and infant care services and other resources. Those who opt-in to receive these text messages will not incur any charges.

"At AT&T, we're glad to support text4baby and the many families who will benefit from it," said Cindy Brinkley, AT&T senior vice president, talent development and chief diversity officer. "We are proud of our long-standing support of women in the workplace — including working mothers — and the various initiatives we have in place to provide them with advancement opportunities. The long-term impact of offering tips and tools to help keep moms and pregnancies healthy — and to lead to beautiful, healthy babies for our world — is large and lasting for us all."
