Walmart Names New Global Chief Diversity Officer
Tuesday, January 18, 2011
Walmart holds the diversity of our business and our associate team as
one of our core values. We believe that by cultivating and supporting
diversity at Walmart, we are better able to serve our customers, our
communities and each other.
I'm excited to share the news that Sharon Orlopp has been appointed
Chief Diversity Officer at Walmart. She brings great passion to this
role, as well as extensive experience, and we are confident that she
will help us grow our diversity efforts around the world.
Sharon began at Walmart in 2003 as Vice President of People. Just one
year later, she was promoted to Senior Vice President of People at
Sam's Club, where she has served for the last six years. As an advocate
for diversity and inclusion, she has sponsored immersion trips for
associates, served as an executive champion for internal diversity
groups for our associates and supported numerous diversity events within
and external to Walmart.
At Walmart, we are committed to a diverse workforce where all ideas,
perspectives and cultures are included, and we know Sharon will be an
energetic leader for this commitment. We look forward to working
together with you in the days ahead. To learn more about Walmart’s
