Entrepreneurs 2011: Turning Vision into Value
A Half-Day Conference for Women Who Launch Businesses and Want to Drive Success
June 23, 2011
The Cobb Energy Centre, Atlanta
7:30 am - 11:45 am
Keynote Speaker: Barbara Kasoff, President of Women Impacting Public Policy, Inc.
Entrepreneurs are a vital piece of the current economic puzzle. As business owners, entrepreneurs are catalysts for sparking jobs, designing new products, creating innovative processes and moving the revenue needle forward. In 2011, AMEX Open reported that there are 8.1 million + women-owned businesses in the US that generate $1.3 trillion in revenues and employ 7.7 million people. Between 1997-2011, as US businesses increased by 34%, the number of women-owned businesses increased by 50%, and Georgia had the largest increase in women-owned businesses of any state in the nation. But, compared to all U.S. firms these numbers mean that women employ just 6% of the country's workforce and they contribute less than 4% of business revenues. So, despite women-owned firms' rapid development, they are not moving along the growth continuum. However, Womenetics believes business is no longer about starting and staying small. At the second annual Womenetics' symposium for women business owners, Entrepreneurs 2011: Turning Vision into Value, we will take an in-depth look at revenue thresholds and explore ways that women can gain equal access to necessary funding and capital to build businesses that compete at the national and global levels. These topics and more will be covered as we hear from inspiring and successful entrepreneurs, expert professional advisers, and companies and organizations that support and reach out to female-owned businesses. Attendees will leave equipped with the knowledge they need to drive their businesses to financial success.
The breakfast event will feature a powerful keynote address from Barbara Kasoff, successful communications and technology entrepreneur, National Women's Business Council member, and founder of Women Impacting Public Policy, Inc. (WIPP) a national advocacy organization advancing policies to create a more favorable business environment for women and minorities. Her organization boasts over 500,000 members, including more than 50 business organizations.
Following Kasoff's address, two panel discussions will bring together financial experts and successful Georgia entrepreneurs to discuss real world funding options and experiences that can lead to business success. A Resource Fair of relevant institutions and organizations that support women-owned businesses will be available throughout the morning. Womenetics is excited to present this comprehensive program aimed at giving women entrepreneurs the recognition and resources needed to increase female business ownership and to advance their national and global business aspirations.
