This
newsletter is designed to keep the CFPB in regular communication with external
stakeholders – financial service providers, consumer advocates, government officials,
and other leaders in the field of consumer financial protection. Whether we've

CFPB announces Early Warning Notice Process
Earlier this
month the CFPB outlined plans to provide advance notice of potential
enforcement actions to individuals and firms under investigation. The Early Warning Notice process allows the
subject of an investigation to respond to any potential enforcement actions
before the Bureau ultimately decides whether to begin legal action. Read the notice...
November CFPB testimony on the Hill
Special
Advisor to the Treasury Secretary Raj Date testified on the CFPB's first 100 days, Holly Petraeus of the
CFPB's Office of Servicemember Affairs testified on consumer financial issues facing military families,
and Skip Humphrey of the CFPB's Office for Older Americans testified on consumer financial issues facing older Americans.
Chime in on private student
loans
Student
loans continue to be a focus at the CFPB. We released our Student Debt Repayment Assistant to help
borrowers understand their options when repaying their loans. We launched Know Before You Owe: student loans with the
Department of Education to get feedback on a draft Financial Aid Shopping
Sheet. And we recently announced that we are seeking information from students,
schools, industry, and other stakeholders on the private student loan market.
