As 2015 kicks off the WIPP team is hitting the ground running to further enhance the value of WIPP.  We are hard at work at revamping WIPP’s Women Accessing Capital program with new curriculum and also adding more content to our top notch training on procurement.  Keep an eye out for a new and improved WIPP blog next month.  And, expect WIPP to provide you with even more news and insider information on top policy priorities and Capitol Hill activity.  It is shaping up to be an exciting year ahead!

WIPP NEWS SECTION:

Partner with WIPP on Programming This Year

This year let WIPP be your partner in providing high quality programming for your stakeholders.   If you have an eye towards the federal marketplace, want to help your constituents learn more about accessing capital or doing business abroad, or would like to keep them up-to-date with policy and regulations that impact women business owners, than WIPP is definitely your go-to resource.

As a coalition partner, WIPP is happy to work with you to co-brand, customize and deliver educational programming that provides the tools and resources needed for your stakeholders to succeed.  We encourage you to visit the WIPP.org website and take a look at our Business Knowledge Center which highlights our various business education programming.  Additionally, if there is a policy area of interest to your members that WIPP actively advocates on, our government affairs team can provide you with website or newsletter content, brief your organization leaders, or host a webinar to educate your network about the issue.

Start the year off right by working with a partner that will help you achieve your 2015 goals.  With WIPP in your corner, it is shaping up to be a year filled with opportunities.

Please contact AnnaKate Moeller, WIPP’s Communications & Educational Programs Manager at akallay@wipp.org with questions or to discuss partnering opportunities.

 WIPP POLICY UPDATE:

24 Organizations Ask SBA to Expedite Sole Source for Women

WIPP, along with 23 organizations representing the women’s business and small business communities, submitted a letter to the SBA asking them to expedite sole source authority. With sole source regulations already in place for other small business contracting programs, the addition to the WOSB Procurement Program can and should be done immediately. The additional WOSB certification changes, also contained in the new law, should follow the full regulatory process.  View the full letter here.

PARTNER OF THE MONTH:

California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity

CAMEO (California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity) is California’s statewide microbusiness network made up of over 170 organizations, agencies, and individuals dedicated to furthering microbusiness development in California. We expand resources and build capacity for our member organizations that provide entrepreneurs with small and micro-business financing such as loans and credit, business assistance and business management training.

Annually, CAMEO members serve about 20,000 very small businesses with training, business and credit assistance and loans. These firms – largely start-ups with less than five employees – support or create 35,000 new jobs in California.  And generate a total of $1 billion in economic activity.

“CAMEO’s founders were determined to create and enrich business development programs serving low-income women entrepreneurs,” says Claudia Viek, CAMEO CEO.  “Today, we’re thrilled to partner with WIPP to continue the work for all women entrepreneurs.”
