For only the second time since its inception, the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) federal contracting program has not only reached, but also exceeded its 5% mandate. SBA Scorecard WOSB FY2019 This is a tremendous achievement for women business owners as they contribute to the economy in record-breaking levels. With an average award of $1.85 million per prime contractor, women-owned small businesses have steadily increased contracting to $26.02 billion out of the overall record-breaking spend of $136 billion in prime contracts to small businesses.

“WIPP advocated for the creation of the WOSB program and has been a major supporter in the certification program over the last decade," said WIPP President & CEO Candace Waterman. “I could not be more proud of these results. Exceeding the 5% goals demonstrates the effort and great work of everyone who is committed to this program’s sustainable success; and moreover, it shows the remarkable impact women-owned small businesses have on our economy when supply chain equality is realized. This is a huge step toward true parity."

WIPP is proud to be a national collaborative partner with the SBA and American Express on training women business owners in federal contracting through programs such as ChallengeHER. Since 2013, ChallengeHER has educated more than 21,000 women entrepreneurs. This year, ChallengeHER pivoted to an online catalog of webinars for federal contracting, ensuring all women business owners have the opportunity to learn the federal process on-demand at any time.

With the new regulations for WOSB/EDWOSB certification in place beginning October 15 on, women business owners are now, more than ever, #WOSBReady!
