President Obama Visits The Middle East and Other OPE Highlights

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Office of Public Engagement Newsletter. Here are 5 highlights from the White House this past week, including the President's visit to the Middle East, a giant X-Ray, and NCAA brackets!

President Obama's Trip to Middle East

This week, President Obama is paying a visit to the Middle East, where he is visiting Israel, the West Bank, and Jordan.The visit marks the first time the President has visited Israel since taking office, and comes as its citizens celebrate the 65th anniversary of a free and independent State of Israel.

Celebrating Women's History Month

On Monday, President Obama and the First Lady welcomed a group of accomplished and inspiring women to a reception in the East Room of the White House for a Women's History Month Reception.The President also announcedhe is nominating Cathy Russell, who has served as Dr. Jill Biden's Chief of Staff and is a longtime advocate for women, as the next Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues.

The President Speaks in Front of a Giant X-Ray

Last Friday, the President visited the Argonne National Research Lab to talk about American energy security. There, he highlighted the importance of clean energy in unlocking American energy independence, job opportunities, and economic growth.The President pointed out, "After years of talking about it, we're finally poised to take control of our energy future.”

Happy 3rd Anniversary, Health Care Law

On Wednesday, the Affordable Care Act celebrated the third anniversary of its passage. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius highlights the ways in which the Heath Care Law includes steps to improve the quality of health care and lower costs for you and for our nation as a whole.
