Virtual Career Fair for Older Job Seekers

AARP recently hosted its first Virtual Career Fair. Employers such as AT&T and the American Red Cross connected with more than 2,500 attendees at their virtual booths. Experienced job seekers got an opportunity to spend time chatting with recruiters, submitting their résumés, viewing job openings, participating in scheduled chats, and downloading helpful AARP job search tip sheets. The Virtual Career Fair will be available on-demand through the end of this month.


Encore Entrepreneurship Video

AARP recently produced a brief video that takes the viewer through a short list of questions about starting a small business, as well as highlights key decision points in the process.

Visit the Fraud Watch Network webpage——to sign up for timely alerts on the latest frauds and scams affecting the aged 50+ population. Also view the FWN’s interactive map for consumer stories and local attorney general communications about fraud.

Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 2 p.m. ET

AARP’s Financial Security team will discuss the 10 steps to retirement—from managing finances to gaining more personal time. 


New AARP Sweepstakes

This year’s summer rock & roll-themed sweepstakes focuses on financial security issues such as retirement planning, Social Security, debt/credit, and finding a job. Sweeps visitors may explore the music festival by clicking on the different stages to find more ways to earn additional sweeps entries, such as by answering trivia questions or completing AARP financial education tools, such as the Social Security Calculator or the Start a Business Quiz.  Entrants may visit every day to better their chances of winning $50,000.
