WIPP sat down with this month’s National Partner of the Month, Hope Lane, to hear more about her business and relationship with WIPP.

1.   Tell us a little about your company and its mission.

Aronson has been thinking ahead for our clients for more than 50 years. Since 1962, Aronson has provided assurance, tax and consulting services to many of the region’s most active industry sectors, including government contracting, technology, nonprofit, real estate and construction. From start-up to exit strategy, Aronson is committed to delivering a complete financial solution so that our clients are able to focus on their core business throughout the entire business lifecycle. Aronson shows companies how to rethink everything to be more profitable, more competitive and better prepared for the future.

2.   Have you always been an entrepreneur?  If not, what, or who, inspired you to take this leap?

I have been blessed with strong female mentorship throughout my career. I took the leap because these individuals believed in me. They believed I could build a business, or a thriving practice area, within the firm. When I joined Aronson in 1996, I was Aronson’s second consultant and GSA schedules were just becoming a big business. Several key individuals pushed me along the way. During those early years, I worked non-stop to build the practice, develop the subject matter expertise and learn how to make it successful. They never stopped pushing me though. They would always challenge me with what’s next and to further hone the strategic vision.

3.   How are you engaged in your community (or state or national scene) in philanthropic or political causes?

Friendship Place holds a very dear place in my heart, and I am thrilled to have become more involved in the Veterans First program during the past several years. Friendship Place works tirelessly to end and prevent homelessness by focusing on engaging and empowering those at risk. So many of my clients are veterans and support the defense sector. I feel compelled to help returning veterans and their families get the care they need. I am involved with the Finance Committee, volunteer with the organization and donate. Additionally, as part of my firm’s dedication to the community, my team has volunteered several times and the Aronson Foundation has granted charitable contributions.

4.   Have you advocated for an issue or a cause important to you (for example:  called or written to your elected official, spoken publicly, or written an op-ed).

Due to my work, I have a very broad vision of what is trending in the government contracting industry, and I work with several organizations to provide input on these critical issues. As a member of the Professional Services Council, I collaborate with the Government Affairs Committee to help develop stances on legislative and regulatory policies issues that are then disseminated to the wider membership. I am also very involved with GSA and helping the agency better understand current practices, implement process improvements and enhance contractor outreach.

5.   What value/resources has WIPP brought you (training or education, member or political connections/access, awareness of policies that affect your business and its growth, Annual Leadership Meeting, etc.) that have been helpful to you?

I have found WIPP to be invaluable. I have attended the Annual Leadership Meeting, sit on the Executive Advisory Board and have made invaluable connections to a wide variety of women business owners all interested in doing business with the U.S. federal government. Personally, I have been inspired by the monumental advancements WIPP has made to women’s access to government procurement.
