WIPP Opportunity to Engage on Top Issues Impacting Your Business

By Kristie Arslan, WIPP Executive Director

As a business owner, your time and energy is best spent running and growing your business.  However, you know the negative or positive impact that a new regulation, a tax increase or deduction, and a government program can have on your bottom line.   Monitoring what is going on in our nation’s capital can be confusing and time consuming.  Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) can help you stay up-to-date on the issues affecting women business owners.

2014 was a banner year for WIPP:

  • Record breaking, standing room only Senate hearing on women owned business, sending a clear message to Congress that women entrepreneurs mean business.
  • Improving the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contract Program with the passage of Sole Source Authority giving women business owners increased access to federal government contracts.
  • Legislation introduced with changes to improve women’s access to capital through the SBA loan programs.
  • Extended tax credits including increased Section 179 expensing and bonus depreciation

As a WIPP member, you are able to participate in WIPP’s Issue Committees & Working Groups, which provide you access to exclusive policy briefings and teleconferences with industry experts and policymakers.  Committee members receive special e-mail updates on policy, regulations, research related to the committee’s issue area(s). Additionally, WIPP reaches out to committee members for special opportunities to participate in various advocacy and industry events and meetings.

WIPP works every day in Washington advocating on women business issues with Congress and the Administration. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be part of these efforts and get the information you need to successfully prepare your business for the changing regulatory landscape.
