Comcast NBCUniversal Releases 2014 Diversity Report:

Our Principles in Practice.

This report was developed by Comcast Corporate Diversity & Inclusion Team to illustrate the progress they have achieved on their Comcast NBCUniversal diversity initiatives between year-end 2010 and year-end 2014.

Our Principles in Practice includes the following select highlights:

·         Governance: Comcast’s Board of Directors is one-third diverse, including three people of color, one woman, and three veterans.

·         Workforce Trends: By year-end 2014, we achieved 59% diversity among the Comcast NBCUniversal Overall Workforce, more than 50% diversity at the Director and Manager levels, and 47% diversity at the Vice President-level and above.

·         Workforce Voluntary Tracking: The company launched voluntary employee self-identification surveys for people with disabilities, members of the LGBT community, and veterans.

·         Supplier Diversity: Comcast NBCUniversal spent more than $5 billion with diverse suppliers at the Tier I level. In 2014, alone, the company spent $213 million with diverse subcontractors.

·         Programming Distribution: The company carries more than 160 independent networks, including many small, diverse, and international networks. Comcast launched four new minority-owned networks, increased total diverse subscriber network instances by more than 97%, and substantially increased the number of diverse hours available on VOD by 474% and Online by 556%.

·         Programming Content: In select NBCUniversal programming divisions – NBC News Group, NBC Owned Television Stations, and Film – the growth rate of ethnically diverse talent in front of and behind the camera increased, but our results were mixed for NBC Primetime Scripted programming. New pipeline initiatives, such as our Emerging Writers program, help support the diversification of our NBCUniversal programming workforce.

·         Community Investment: Between year-end 2010 and year-end 2014, the company increased cash giving to minority-led and minority-serving organizations by 135% and to women-led and women-serving organizations by more than 115%.
