Apprenticeships are critical to the strength of our nation’s workforce and our economy, and we are investing in apprenticeship. The department is awarding$175 million to 46 granteesacross the country to develop or expand apprenticeships in high-growth industries. It’s a cutting-edge investment, creating opportunity for thousands.

About 40 million Americans are not able to earn or accrue paid sick time. But, as Secretary of Labor Tom Perez notes, the government can be amodel for change. A new presidential executive order requires federal contractors to offer their employees up to seven days of paid sick leave per year.
