Judy Sheppard, WIPP National Partner, Honored at "50 Powerful Minority Women in Business" Awards

April 1, 2010 Judy K. Sheppard, President of Professional Services of America, Inc., was recently honored at the "50 Powerful Minority Women in Business” ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington DC. As part of this award, Mrs. Sheppard will be featured on the cover of the May/June 2010 issue of the MEA Magazine. As well as being featured on the cover of the magazine, she was interviewed for a feature story in the magazine as well. This issue will be distributed during the MED Week Conference.

Judy Sheppard is the only woman from West Virginia to ever have won this designation.

As part of the award ceremonies, Mrs. Sheppard met with more than 300 local, national and regional government officials, corporate executives, Fortune 500 companies, members of the media, and political and community leaders.

"It was a great honor to be chosen to receive this award,” commented Mrs. Sheppard. "It was even more memorable to be the first woman chosen from West Virginia.”

She was honored as the Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003, Minority Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004, Small Business of the Year in 2005, SBA Women in Business Champion in 2006, the State Journal's Who's Who in West Virginia Business in 2007, the Biltmore Who's Who List in 2007, top 100 Women Business Enterprise (WBE) owners impacting supplier diversity by Women's Enterprise USA magazine in 2008, the WBENC Southeast Division's Women's Business Enterprise of the Year for West Virginia in 2008, and the WIPP (Women Impacting Public Policy) Member to Watch in 2009. Honorary Degree from WVU 2008.

She is a noted business leader in her community and state. Mrs. Sheppard's involvement includes formerly serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Polymer Alliance Zone, former Executive Board Member of the Mid Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce, past Board Member of the Smoot Theater, Board Chairman and Past Speaker Chairman of the Parkesburg Rotary, Board Member of the March of Dimes, Board Member of the Parkersburg Homecoming, Board Member of the American Marketing Association, Board Member of the Parkersburg Area Roundtable, Board Member of the Parkersburg Development Taskforce, Board Member of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and Past Advisory Board Member of Ohio Valley University. Board Member of VAC.

Mrs. Sheppard is currently a voice for women of the State of West Virginia in Washington, DC. She is regularly sought out for her insight regarding many issues facing women business owners including healthcare, government contracts, and access to capital.
