WIPP National Partners Sherrie Aycock and Tara Olson Named SBA 2011 Women in Business Champions

SBA Names 2011 Women in Business Champions of the Year for North Carolina and the Southeast

CHARLOTTE - Sherrie Aycock and Tara Olson, Co-CEO's of AllPoints Research, Inc. in Winston-Salem, NC have been named the Small Business Administration's 2011 Women in Business Champions of the Year for both North Carolina and SBA's Southeast Region IV. These awards honor them for their commitment to the advancement of women's business ownership. They were nominated by Barbara Kasoff, President of Women Impacting Public Policy, Inc. (WIPP) in San Francisco and Susan Solovic of Susan Solovic Media.

The award recognizes Aycock and Olson for their active support for legislative or regulatory action designed to help small businesses, efforts to increase business and financial opportunities for women, their volunteer efforts to strengthen the role of women business owners within the community and other accomplishments demonstrating effectiveness in improving the environment for women in business.

Sherrie Aycock and Tara Olson have co-owned and operated the business since 1996.

AllPoints is a marketing research firm which offers services in business strategy and communications.

Both winners are active in WIPP, a national nonpartisan public policy organization that advocates for and on behalf of women and minorities in business. On a national level, Aycock serves on the Executive Advisory Board, and Olson on the Board of Directors.

They have performed economic research for WIPP and often speak nationally on the findings. Olson has testified on the behalf of women business owners for the President's National Committee of Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. Aycock has assisted in WIPP's nationwide advocacy and grassroots efforts.

Both lead WIPP's Instant Impact team in North Carolina. In this capacity they meet, organize, strategize and discuss important issues affecting women business owners.

The pair is responsible for bringing The Girls Going Places® (G.I.R.LS) Entrepreneurship Award Program to North Carolina. The national program sponsored by Guardian Life Insurance is to reward girls who demonstrate budding entrepreneurship, financial independence, and service to their communities

Sherrie Aycock and Tara Olson select one woman business owner per year to mentor and provide pro-bono services in business strategy, marketing and marketing research.

SBA's Southeast Region IV includes: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
