We’ve had an exciting year at WIPP and now it’s time to celebrate!  We were victorious in our efforts to improve the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Procurement Program with the addition of Sole Source Authority and continued to provide top notch education & engagement for women business owners.  Join us at WIPP’s 2015 Annual Dinner Celebration, held on July 14, 2015 from 6:30pm to 10:00pm at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. as we highlight WIPP’s successes, share big news of upcoming events and programs at WIPP, hear from fantastic speakers, and honor WIPP Co-Founder & President Barbara Kasoff.

The blog will also feature commentary from policy makers, WIPP leaders and partners, and industry experts.

Last Chance to Submit Comments to the SBA on Sole Source Authority Proposed Rule

If you have not already posted your comments, we hope you will take a few minute to do so right away.  The SBA has a clear priority of assisting women business owners to achieve the 5% goal in federal contracting; but they need your support and help.  We hope you will consider WIPP's final comments, then click on the link to offer your thoughts.  CLICK HERE to go to the comments page and click the Comment Now! (button in the upper right corner).

As the comment period draws to a close on June 30th for the Sole Source Authority rules in the WOSB Procurement Program, WIPP has submitted final comments on the proposed new rules.  These comments take into consideration all aspects of the new legislation, and provides insight into the need for expediting the Sole Source Authority immediately to bring strength and parity to the WOSB program.

Women In Defense, A National Security Organization

Celebrating its 30th year, Women In Defense (WID), A National Security Organization, cultivates and supports the advancement and recognition of women working in all sectors of national security. Established in 1985, Women In Defense became an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) in 2004. 

WID Membership is open to women and men whose primary professional activities relate to the United States’ national security. WID represents members from defense companies and related small, medium and large business, all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, government agencies, academia, associations and professional services.

Women In Defense provides women a dynamic community for developing leadership skills as well as mentoring, networking, and educational programs with CEU’s and CLP’s for programs to be available in 2016.  WID National provides many educational and professional development programs in addition to the many programs of WID’s 20 WID Chapters across the country.  WID’s Annual Conference is National’s largest program and features leading military officers, defense corporate executives and non-profit experts.  An annual HORIZONS scholarship fundraising dinner has contributed to the $368,000+ awarded to over 25 students since 1990 and WID’s Service to the Flag Award and Ceremony is always keynoted by a notable leader in our profession, such as 2015 presenter ADM Michelle J. Howard, VCNO.  A Women Owned Small Business program will launch Fall 2015.

WID Member benefits include extensive opportunities to expand your network of leading defense and national security professionals.  WID National provides  annual educational and professional development programs.
